Were the earth were a living being,

what would she feel in the spring ?

With life burgeoning beneath her skin,

wet and warm,

To what could she liken

the sensation of life reborn ?

Is it like Love's seed

that bursts within my heart

after a life’s winter of waiting?

Or like the vigorous new sprout,

that from your gentle garden

grows with glee to be become

the lush and towering tree

I was always meant to be.
