37 - Bond again what man has severed
Humankind is a family that does not recognize itself as such. The family is a crucible of unconditional love. The dysfunctional family is therefore one of the most destructive phenomena, perpetuating waves of hurt from generation to generation.
Perhaps the most archetypical dysfunctions within the family, one that has indeed been seen as normal for thousands of years, is the subjugation of the woman by the man on the basis of physical strength. The restoration of balance between the genders in the interest of generations to come is a great challenge of our time. This restoration has often been misguided by woman’s appropriation of the masculine principle rather than a fuller expression of the feminine principle.
Woman have been tirelessly tying the world together in the background while men have relentlessly pursued their ambitions of creation and destruction. Women possess a more intuitive understanding of the holistic essence of life, and the chain of support that exists naturally between all beings.
Paradoxically, this calling together of vital forces to give birth to a balanced social order may now be the role of the new man, rising in the awareness of the critical need to serve the power of woman rather than suppress it.
Whether you are a man or a woman, consider for a moment who you really are, apart from your gender. This exercise has been so difficult for man in the past that his entire notion of the divine--God the Father--was built around masculine principles.
The point of this self-observation is not to deny your gender, but to realize that your wholeness as a human requires a synthesis of masculine and feminin.
Today, do the thing that you have previously considered weak and irrational: give something from the heart without knowing how it will come back to you.
